To mine there is only one thing you will need to start. A Pickaxe, after you have read the manual. Now to find a pickaxe there is only one place you will find it, in the Lupin City North - Living Quarters. The first house, the one to the right will be the Workshop. You will see the two armour statues the the side of the door.
When you go into the shop you will see two men running stools. Go to the shop owner on your left and go into the store (walk up to him). Then when in the store you will see a selection of different equipment to choose from. On the top row you will see 'How to Mine!' book, yellow book, and a novice pickaxe, middle in row. These items will cost you 150 gold.
When you have bought the book and the pickaxe go into your inventory. Double click on your book to learn how to mine. This will give you the ability to use your pickaxe now. Now go out of the shop and down to Lupin City - East Gate. Keep following the path towards where the blob keeper is. By the entrance you will see some rocks. Equip your pickaxe and hit then like you would an enemy.
Now you know how to mine you can now get your level up and use different Pickaxes and mine different materials.
