Mage Spells

The problem with Wizards right now is that we burn through our mana in a few casts and then are forced to close the gap and use melee or bring an inventory of expensive pots with us to re-up. I think i've got a solution that makes sense.

Arcane Strike should be made like a melee's basic attack. Give it a cooldown of about 1 second (The normal speed of a one hand sword) and have it do about as much damage as an on level store-bought sword. So at Rank 2 (Level 10) it'd do about as much damage as an Iron Longsword. Then decrease the amount of mana required to cast to something miniscule like 5 to 10 (Depending on Wizard's starting mana.) Now, to go along with this we need to tone the damage done by staffs way down to the point where they do almost nothing. I hit bat's for 35+ damage at level 10 with them for god's sake. Maybe this way we can actually play the class like it's a caster instead of just a squishier Fighter.

We can leave the bulk of our mana for our nuke spells like Fire Blast. We'd still have to use mana pots but only sparingly and only if we wanted to increase our DPS to level quicker, almost like how a Guard or Fighter chooses when to use his skills rather then them being mandatory.

I'm not sure if Cele's have this problem but I'd assume so, in which case this could easily apply to them. I know you've probably got a lot of things to do concerning the game Zoso, but something really needs to be done because casters have to jump through hoops to level.

I like this idea. It is neat. I can't say much more than that since I don't know the class very well. It seems everyone has stated the same problem though: that potions are required basically.

Rhu has hit a point.

Wizards are too much like a melee class with the added bonus of been able to cast a spell every once in a while.

Having tried out the wizard class i was disappointed in the amount of downtime required to lvl, and to top it off on The 3rd i met a wizard close to my lvl and my DpS was way above his.

Something really needs to be done about wizards skill mana costs/starting mana total and mana regen rate. Not by a large amount, just enough so This caster class doesn't have to resort to meleeing.

Cele's don't really have this problem as their DoT can deal a healthy amount and doesn't cost much mana. We do need pots to lvl fast but they aren't required to lvl at a half decent pace.

Note* Cele's don't need to be nerfd :?

Yeah. Wizards need SOMETHING.

I got my Wizard to level 7 and it took an insane amount of time, I don't think Wizards should be out damaged by any class and be the glass canons their destined to be.

Fighter was cruise control in comparison...

Yes Please fix wizard class! I have to melee everything cuz I dont have enough mana to finish mobs sometimes. The spells need to do more damage and the melee less

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, Cele's can out-dps any wiz, can heal on top of it, and their spells cost relatively little (as of 1.4, don't know about that anymore). There may be a slight issue at hand.

I completely agree. Mages should be able to do high DPS, but fragile(countering the higher damage then other classes), this is nearly impossible if you have to constantly use a potion. And why can a Cel out-DPS a wizard? It should be the other way around except the Cel can heal. I'm not saying debuff, Cels, I'm just saying reduce the mana cost.
