Some suprising news..

Postby ZoSo » Tue May 04, 2010 8:14 pm

Yeah, after some talk to Giaken.. We came up with a pretty wild idea.
But its pretty sweet..

I mean, we're currently working on Silverdale 2 right?.. So why not make it Silverdale 2 for realz.. So to say xD.

Lately ive been pixeling a base paperdoll sprite in the same style as the Mack sprites currently in use in Silverdale.. I mean it would be pretty sweet to have the entire game fully custom, like all graphics customly made for Silverdale.. So yeah, we're going with that idea.

Allthrough i must say, this is an afterthought.. and who knows, we might change our mind.. we'll just have to see how it goes. Also im looking for potentional pixel artists to help me out. Especially with Spell Effects and Monsters.. But also some Tiling.

We're shooting for a total Snes experience with Silverdale 2.. So yeah, its gotta be fancy :).. And its time to move on, it'd be fun to work on snes styled graphics.. Without having to rip em :P.

I'd need examples of previous work.

This is a crazy Idea! It would be nice to have all custom graphics but finding dedicated pixel artists Is going to be tough.

Oh wow, this is indeed an epic idea. I can't wait to see some more eye candy.
Although I have no experience with Pixel art, I'll support you as much as I can.

I don't Approve.
This is going to delay the game so much. and I wish this news was released maybe a week ago. That way I could of helped.. but I can't ditch my project.

I agree a waste of time the pixels and snes style is already at its best, there's more important things that are in game.

And i swear if there is one just one more reset back to lvl 1 i would suggest everyone quitting, it seems its just a endless loop. Fun game great game just needs more people and to move out of beta.

I say go for it if you really want to do it.

People will always come back and the player base always grows, so It's not like we'll be missing the impatient people.

And as for getting more Pixel artists, maybe work up a form somewhere else with an example of what style your looking for, requiring a piece of work based on that example (not copy, just style).

Unlike some of the less enthusiastic comments above, I think you should go for it if you really want to. Completing your own ideas in the game-development process, is very important to keep both the creativity, and the motivation high.

Don't rush it, people will still be here afterwards, even if they say they won't.

And yes, some examples of the actual style of sprites would be nice so potential artists can say "hey, that looks like something i can do!".

Good Luck ZoSo.

As i said earlier, if it turns out its to much work.. we can allways turn back, there are allready maps mapped and stuff with the old tiles.

The engine will be in progress anyway meanwhile, so if we decide to turn back (which i doubt.. since what could go wrong xD?) the engine will be there, completed and ready..

Ive allready started on Tiles, a small preview on what it'll look like..

As you see im going with the style currently in Silverdale, so i got alot of examples to work after.
